Ecumenical Catholic Church in India (ECCI) is an independent Catholic Church in India committed to the pursuit of Christian unity through prayer, dialogue, reconciliation, fellowship, and service.
Ecumenical Catholic Church in India (ECCI) recognizes the importance of the ministry of the Bishop of Rome, the Pope, and expresses its support for his role in promoting unity among Christians. We understand the principle of Primus inter pares — “the first among equals” — as a model of service, dialogue, and collegiality among Church leaders in the pursuit of Christian unity.
We believe that the Church is called to walk together in faith, charity, and mutual respect, seeking the guidance of the Holy Spirit and remaining faithful to the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
As the Second Vatican Council teaches:
“Today, in many parts of the world, under the inspiring grace of the Holy Spirit, many efforts are being made in prayer, word and action to attain that fullness of unity which Jesus Christ desires.”
The Council also exhorted the faithful to recognize the signs of the times and to take an active and responsible part in the work of ecumenism.
